Fall down the rabbit hole into a Wonderland with drinks a-plenty
Visit the GoCompare bar and ensure your glass is never empty
You’re a very special part of this prestigious event
It’ll be a merry unbirthday truly well spent
You’d have to be half mad to dream this night up
But we’re all mad here so let’s raise a tea cup
Toast the kingdom’s best bloggers and social kings and queens
We can’t wait to see you on April 17th
.

With an invitation like that, it’s an offer we couldn’t refuse.

Last week, Ebun and Matt from Gorkana’s News Teams attended the 2015 UK Blog Awards. With a more central location than its inaugural year at the Grange Hotel, the UK Blog Awards took place at the impressive Montcalm Hotel just by Marble Arch. This year’s theme was Alice in Wonderland which transported bloggers and attendees into a world of hallucinations, with a giant smiling Cheshire cat overlooking the main bar. As each guest entered the impressive venue they were greeted with complimentary cocktails and prosecco alongside a host of delectable canapés.

After the initial networking and catching up took place, the guests were ushered to their seats. The awards started with an introduction from host, Andy Samuels, a Wolverhampton-born presenter and vlogger who has become a strong influencer and has built up an impressive following of over 1.5 million followers. We were then presented with a speech by Kristian Dando, representative of main sponsor, GoCompare.com. Andy then invited Founder and Managing Director of the UK Blog Awards, Gemma Newton to say a few words.

We were graced by the presence of industry judges such as Jonathan Weinberg (Former Sun journalist and media consultant) who judged Digital & Technology, Fiona Minett (Company Director at Peachy PR) who took on PR, Media, Marketing & Communication blogs, Lynne Slowey (Group Head of Digital Content at Thomas Cook) who judged Travel and Kristian Dando (Editor at Gocompare.com) who judged Automotive. For the full list of judges, please see below.

It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces win awards and be highly commended such as Gorkana favourites; Lucy Basaba (Theatrefullstop), Greg Dillan (Great Dams) and Natasha Nuttall (Graphique Fantastique) as well as those who were more than happy to be shortlisted such as Lindsay Benson (Lean Bean Nutrition), Zarina Rimbaud-Kadirbaks (Dutch Girl in London), Claire McCarthy (Claire with the Hair McCarthy) and Annie Bean (The Tales of Annie Bean). For the full list of Winners and Highly Commended, please see below.

The event lasted well into the night with resident DJ, Roman Kemp, playing the latest tunes alongside the GoCompare.com cocktail bar serving well-known cocktails. It was a truly enjoyable evening with the best of the UK blogging scene in a location that will be hard to beat next year!
