THE AMY GRIMEHOUSE PRESENTS…
PARIS IS BURNING: TUDOR REALNESS
The frequenters of 90s drag balls had more in common with the Tudors than you would think. They both liked their clothes schmancy: they both liked to quench their thirsts; they both appreciated the finer things in life; and they both fought the Black Death.
Join the effervescent The Amy Grimehouse as they fuse these fierce themes, hosting the Paris is Burning – Tudor Realness drag ball at the grade II listed Tudor Manor, the National Trust’s Sutton House.
Your hosts for the evening are the always-opulent John Sizzle and Babylon Spice. Prissy that walk as they elegantly guide you through an evening of crowns and codpieces. With trophies at stake and all to play for, make sure to bring your very best Tudor Realness to fight powdered-wig and nail for your house.
Not only will there be the chance to explore the Tudor Realness of Sutton House over a cocktail or two, there will be a screening of Paris is Burning, a vogueing workshop and performance galore – and to round it off there’s a club night you can really strut your ruff to.
Tickets £15 advance, available now.
This event is partnered with the hottest new (library) ticket in town Late Night Library Club’s celebration of Tipping the Velvet – Drag Kings, Music Hall, identity and performance on 10 July, also at Sutton House. Both events are part of Sutton House’s Women’s Season.
With support from Arts Council England.
