[THE GOLDEN TICKET] Life time entry to EXILIO for two people.
Exilio has moved home many times, and after two long years in Archway, has decided to move back to Guy’s Bar in London Bridge due to popular demand.
Exilio was funded by Gloria Lizcano and Liliana Suarez in 1996. The idea was to create a space for the LGBT Latin community to socialise and to enjoy traditional Latin music, drinks and dance. Two years into Exilio, Liliana and Gloria decided to go their separate ways. Liliana was happy to leave Gloria as the funder of Exilio and to this day remain great friends.
Exilio moved with the times and also introduced theme parties and pageants. One of the highlights of Exilio’s calendar is Miss Exilio, a tv/ts beauty pageant that takes place on the festivities for World Aids Day, usually the first Saturday of December. Another, huge event is Halloween, NYE and of course the Anniversary celebrations which always have a theme to them.
Exilio’s funder, DJ and Promoter Gloria, goes under the Dj name DJG. Her music is traditional but has been modified with the times but always keeping to the real Latin roots.
Gloria Lizcano was born in Colombia. She moved to the UK when she was 10 years old and was one of the first pupils to take the GCSE’s in the UK.
Although she has been in England almost all her life, her Latin roots are very prominent. This is reflected in Exilio, with the traditional Latin music, drinks, shows and Latin culture.
She has participated in many Latin carnivals, has been a Dj for many Latin nightclubs and recently been added to Urban World Nights list of Djs. One of her favourite guest appearance has been at the ladies night CODE.
“My favourite time is at London Pride, when you lift your head up and see thousands of people dancing to your music, at that Latin music. IT’S AMAZING.”
She recently did London Pride, Brighton Pride and her experience goes back since 1996 as Dj, event organiser and promoter.
She has recently made a new partnership with CASA Latin American Theatre Festival where Exilio has been invited to close the festival with a huge Latin Carnival Party, this will be on Saturday 10th October at the Rich Mix in Bethnal Green Road.
Founder, Gloria Lizcano said “we are happy to be back at London Bridge and we shall continue to give our audience great service and welcome; value for money and a safe environment with top quality music, live shows, themes and pageans.
I am very passionate about Exilio. This is my baby and I am very proud to say that Exilio is now a young adult, one that has given me great joy and pain, and with all the ups and downs that come with promoting the club I can truly say that I will not have it any other way. Exilio started in Latimer Road back in 1996 because there was simply nothing for the LGBT Latin community, except the Latin clubs where we simply could not dance with the same sex as we would be discriminated. Due to this anger and negative feeling…Exilio was created. We look forward to serving the Latin LGBT community in London for many more years!”
